Our Philosophy

At Prototopics, our philosophy on education centers around creativity, innovation, and personalization. We believe that true learning happens when students are inspired to think differently, which is why our online course model is built to foster creative education through dynamic, engaging content. By incorporating the four learning styles outlined in the VARK model—Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinesthetic—we ensure every learner has the tools to understand and express ideas in ways that resonate personally. Our courses combine visual storytelling, audio lectures, written prompts, and hands-on activities to support creative thinking and skill development across disciplines. With a flexible, student-driven approach, Prototopics empowers learners to explore, experiment, and evolve—fueling innovation through the art of learning itself.

Creative Education

Our approach to education can be broken down into 5 steps. Each steps plays a unique role in the learning process and serves a unique purpose that is designed to either 1) Educate 2) Apply Knowledge or 3) Retain Information. While using this model, one may find themselves thinking “this isn’t how I’m used to,” and you would be 100% correct. We have taken thousands of hours of education models, in class results and surveys from all ages to create a system that anyone, at any level can learn from. The process steps are:

1. Scaffolding Lessons

Scaffolding Lessons is the process of taking large scale topics and identifying unique ways to break them into “consumable” sized lessons. These lessons often contain a single take-away, maximum two. This allows us to create a core foundational structure that we can add building blocks to as we continue.

2. VARK Curriculum Development

Utilizing the VARK Model (Visual, Auditory, Read-Write, Kinesthetic), we identify memorable points within the topics that can be taught through a combination of all four learning styles. Scaffolded lessons are then joined together, turning into a full-fledge curriculum, meeting all learning types where they are at.

3. Practical Applications

After the students have been taught a high-level idea through VARK developed lessons, they are asked to put it into practice in a way that best suits them. This does vary based on the learning type. While some students may create a written application of their learning, others may utilize a project-based learning approach and complete a physical tasks to prove they understand the course material.

4. Debrief and Teach Back

At the end of every lessons, students are asked about their experience (what worked, what didn’t work, any additional questions) and then given the change to present their practical application to a larger audience of peers. In an online class, this may look like submitting images or a video detailing what they have completed as a result of the information gained.

5. Repetition and Integrated Review

Finally, students are encouraged to repeat lessons and complete course material multiple times to ensure retention. This eliminates students desire to “remember for the test”, and forces tem to see why the information they are learning applies to them in a longer term, gain experience within a specific subject and then practice over and over again until they feel comfortable.

Our job as educators is not to be seen as a “boss.” Our role is to simply facilitate the educational take-aways for each student. Meeting those students where they are at and leaning into their skill set isn’t hard, but its worth it. This is the future of education.
